Things Daddies Do

DSCN5322
File this under Things Daddies Do For Kids, or Things Husbands Do For Pregnant Wives Who Can’t Bend Over.
When dads are starving because they had life insurance physicals that morning and haven’t eaten since the day before they stop to save tiny toys from under the car before they are able to go to Waffle House.

They also take over bath duty, even at Disney World, because that tub is too low, that bathroom is too tiny, and if mama bends, squats or leans over one more time after walking 8+ miles in the parks she just might have that baby right then.

Love the face on the pic above. What a little monster!
And this last picture?

Another thing dads do? Hide in the only available place that may give them a little peace and quiet. Even if it is a tiny bathroom in a hotel at Disney World. ha! Not sure why it is but kids don’t bother dads in the bathroom. Doesn’t matter where moms are,  kids NEVER leave moms alone!

Disney Day 5–going home

Time to go home! We went and grabbed drinks and pressed pennies at our resort food court before getting in the car.

The girls thought the flat penny with Tigger/Belle on it was pretty neat! Jared and I appreciate cheap gifts!

We went to Downtown Disney again for breakfast before we left. At certain times Disney does free dining packages if you stay on property. This was amazing for us. I preplanned snacks and breakfasts and then the rest of our food was free. Many of our meals were $70+ for the 4 of us and we paid nothing. If you have the choice to go during the free dining times we highly suggest it! In fact, we originally wanted to go the week before but changed our schedule by 4 days to get the free meal plan. We got 2 meals and 1 snack per person per day and free drinks at our resort for the length of our stay.

Wolfgang Pucks….some of the best food ever! We went there more than once!

Here are the girls on the ride home. It was long. We heard “When will we be there? Are we close? This is taking a long time” at least 372, 763 times. AGH!!!! Then, just when we were getting close traffic stopped…for more than an hour. We checked the internet and radio stations and couldn’t figure out what was going on and then we heard that the whole interstate through downtown Atlanta was SHUT DOWN for a vice presidential candidate. That was about the end of us! We’d all been in a good mood and trucking along but that extra 1.5 hours about made us crazy!!!! Thankfully, we made it home, took a bath and hopped in bed. The next day was back to school and work.

Best vacation ever. Spending that many hours together in a new place with just the 4 of us was a great experience. Everyone adapted and we had the best time. So thankful we were able to go!

Disney Day 4 con’t

After a day at Hollywood Studios we went back to our resort to relax for the night before packing to go home.  We stayed at Disney’s All Star Movies Resort – it was the least expensive of all the Disney resorts and didn’t have all the bells and whistles of other resorts but it was just fine for us since we were only in the room at night. If you were going and plan on using the pool a lot there are different resorts with better amenities.

Our particular building had a 101 Dalmatians theme. The girls loved all the giant puppy dogs!

We made up a game where we shouted out a color and the girls ran to jump on that color dog bone (they were in the cement). Our goal was to wear those girls out the entire time they were awake!

Who’s HK holding? It’s Baby Boo! The girls were so sweet and surprised me with a Baby Boo doll since they knew she is my favorite. Pretty sure Daddy helped with that! They have taken very good care of her since we’ve been home and she’s spent some quality time sleeping with Pizza Guy.

Each resort has a food court. We enjoyed fun snacks the last night before bed. Nothing better than juice boxes and mouse cookies!

Gymnastics!

DSCN5343

Love this picture of the girls. Such sweet things!

We put the girls in a ballet/gymnastics combo class this fall. Outside of the ballet room door there is a tv so that parents could watch the class. To say that HK was not impressed with ballet would be an understatement! She was up bouncing around when she should have been sitting still. When the rest of the class was facing the right and holding onto the bar HK was facing left hanging upside down from the bar. After a few weeks of hearing “Halle Kate, you don’t tell me Laura no” I decided to ask about an all gymnastics class…and was able to switch the girls starting the next week! Both girls have LOVED being in all gymnastics and do not want to go back to ballet.

I snapped these pictures last week as we headed out the door. HK wanted to the tutu and the pigtails (normally she’d rip off a tutu and just letting me brush her hair is a battle). And Matney kept holding up something for me to see every time I took a picture so her face kept getting hidden.

Next week is our last week of gymnastics before a new session starts. We haven’t decided if we’ll send them back right now or wait a while. If anyone needs gift ideas for Christmas for them feel free to contribute to the gymnastics class fund!

Long Week

This picture pretty much sums up our days over here. Poor Miss M has been all out of sorts for the past week. She hasn't cried this much since she was a baby. At first I blamed it on her having a cold and not feeling well. Then I figured it was the time change but at this point I really have no idea. We've had serious tears all day long for days....and this mama has had some serious meltdowns is handling it just fine. Ha! Poor Jared, it wasn't even 5:30am this morning and I was way grumpy, M was up and crying already over something silly....and I am pretty sure Jared was skipping out the door very excited to go to work.  We've made a few changes/sleep rules today so we'll see if tomorrow is better. Right now I can just say that I know her preschool teacher are earning their paycheck this week! We all know that Halle Kate's teachers earn theirs every week!

Disney day 3 parade

Every park has a parade in the afternoon so after lunch we grabbed a spot on the curb again. This time we were able to get in the shade. Thank goodness, even in October Florida is hot!

We saw all our favorite guys again!

Baby Boo! I love Monsters, Inc and HK was Baby Boo in the womb until she had a name. Put that together and she's my favorite! Anytime we saw her in a park the girls went nuts to make sure that I saw her too.

This parade was a lot of fun to watch. When it ended we'd really done all that there was to do so we loaded up and headed back to the hotel. We'd seen and done a lot in our three days and had an awesome time!

Disney World Day 3 - Hollywood Studios

We went to Hollywood Studios for our last day in the parks. We knew that Magic Kingdom would be the favorite but we also knew that Halle Kate loves, loves, loves the Pixar guys just as much as Matney loves princesses so we wanted to make sure HK got to meet all her favorites too.
Going to Hollywood Studios really felt like going to any other amusement park. The Magic Kingdom was full of magic from opening to closing, Hollywood Studios was fun but didn't have the same level of excitement as the days before.

We watched an Ariel show and Disney Jr show when we arrived. The girls were hesitant at first but up and dancing before it was over.

Green Army Man from Toy Story. He was funny to watch walk around with those big plastic feet.

Jared was about to be grabbed by "The Claw"!

Buzz and Woody together. We'd met Buzz the day before but HK was determined to see these two together. Even Jared had to get in this picture.

Meeting Sulley from Monsers, Inc....and I just asked Jared how to spell Sulley and he said what I typed was right BUT his full name is James P. Sullivan. Sorry, I stand corrected.

I love these two pictures. His huge swallowed her.

And Monsters, Inc is my favorite so I jumped in this picture too. Disney World isn't just for kids!

They were touching fingertips when she said goodbye.

No visit could be complete without a picture in Lightning's garage. We always wanted to meet TowMater.

Finally time to meet the greatest super heroes ever! This was the longest line we waited in, ride or character, during our time at Disney. At one point a Make A Wish child arrived and was able to jump in line. Those two characters went nuts jumping all around when the little boy walked up...it was the sweetest thing. He was so very excited, you could see that his parents were excited and many of us in line were teary eyed. I will gladly stand in line for a few extra minutes for that. It was so sweet!

Halle Kate was so very proud!

As we left the Incredibles we ran into a Disney worker from Perry, GA (where I am from). Small world! We talked for just a second, she knew my Grandmama, and she saw HK's Jake and the Pirates shirt and gave us the inside scoop on where to find him next. Got to love small town connections!

HK had gotten that shirt from Mickey that morning and was very excited to show it to Jake. She is all about pirates, especially Captain Hook right now.

And we had to go play in the giant playground from Honey, I Shrunk the Kids.
