All day Diva

Matney is our little diva all day or all night. She found this mask (I think someone gave it to me before I got married) and wore it around for hours.

The Princess and the Pea(nut)

The girls had a red letter day this week. First Matney got her haircut, then we walked to the candy store and went to play at Barnes and Noble where it was ballerina story time(not that either of them were willing to sit still and hear a story). We left there and played outside at The Avenue "park" where they threw pennies in the fountain. It was hot so we headed to have lunch at Chick fil a and stopped at Publix on the way home where they "drove" the car shaped cart and split a cookie. I mean, what more can a girl ask for? Even though we didn't hear the stories the ballerina books must have influenced Miss M because when she woke up from her nap she wanted to put on her ballerina outfit, an additional tutu and her pink sparkle shoes. Halle Kate, the peanut (who still doesn't even weigh 19lbs and will be 2 before we're able to turn her carseat around to face forward!), didn't get dressed up but joined Princess Matney for some pictures. For once, they were both in great moods at the same time!

These pictures were taken about 12 hours before Matney woke up Thursday lethargic. I got her downstairs and she just laid on her Elmo bed, she wouldn't even open her eyes to watch Dora. Needless to say I got HK up and dressed and we headed straight for the dr. She had no symptoms of anything, not even a fever, so we decided to watch her for the rest of the day to see if anything changed. By naptime she literally had not taken one step all day and Jared came home from work to hold her (because she cried that she wanted Daddy, not Mommy. Nice.). When she woke up she seemed a little better and we were going to pick up a pizza for dinner knowing that she would have to be really sick not to want pizza. Less than two minutes in the car ride she threw up EVERYWHERE. Lovely. Since HK was throwing up last week I'm not terribly surprised but yuck! We got her cleaned up and she acted totally normal, crying because she wanted pizza. Poor girl only got a few crackers before bed and slept fine all night. When she woke up this morning the first thing out of her mouth, before the light was on or she was out of her bed, was "I'm better. Can I have pizza and gummies now?". HA! Sweet girl was starving! We'll stay home for a few days to make sure we're not spreading germs but she has been fine all day. Two kids definaltly means double the opportunity to catch germs and double the time stuck home with sick kids!

Whales

I've been trying to pick out a stuff for the girls' bathroom since we found out Halle Kate was a girl and I've never found anything I liked. Matney however loved the "whale stuff" at Target. I wanted to keep looking but Jared reminded me that it isn't my bathroom and I needed to suck it up and get what she wanted. I have to say that Matney has great taste because I think this turned out super super cute. A few weekends ago Jared hung the chair rail and bead board before I painted. There are no drawers in the bath cabinets (don't get me started. Every bathroom needs drawers.) so we found this little cabinet at Target and hung it up. At least some things can stay hidden. I'm still waiting on some prints for the walls so hopefully it will be done soon.
Matney never liked to brush her teeth before but she goes in there several times a day now. She and Halle Kate both loves it! And I love another project crossed off the list!

You'd think I would have cleaned it up and taken the toilet paper roll of the back of the toilet before taking pictures. Nope, what you see is what you get...dora soap, puppy glasses and all!

Matney's First Haircut

It has taken me several months to convince Jared to let Matney get her first haircut. I finally told him that I was taking her before preschool starts (yep, she's going to preschool in just a two weeks. She'll be there 2 days a week from 9am-1pm. She is SO EXCITED and asks to go almost every morning when she wakes up.). We heard from a friend that the little girl super boutique Sweet and Sassy does $10 Toddler Tuesday haircuts. Last week I took Miss M there on a Tuesday morning to watch her friend get a haircut so that she wouldn't be scared. She wasn't scared at all and wanted a haircut RIGHT THEN. Unfortunately $10 Tuesdays books fast and we were not able to make an appointment until today. Every single day for a week Matney has said "today I am going to get my haircut" and I've had to tell her not yet. This morning when I got her up I told her where we were going and she was too excited to even eat breakfast.

Look carefully at this first picture. Matney was out of the car and headed for the door before I could stop her. Can you see what she's carrying? Miss M got herself totally decked out to get her hair done. Seriously, this girl just keeps us laughing. Don't you love the purse and the bracelet? Too funny!

She was willing to pause long enough for one picture.

Doesn't she look so big walking to the chair?

Mommy and Halle Kate hanging out...just before Halle Kate decided she's had enough and started screaming.

Someone at some time had the genius idea to let the kids hold a water bottle and squirt the mirror. This totally kept Matney occupied so that she wasn't wiggling around too much. She the glee on her face to make a mess?

In between the super excited water squirting pictures and this Halle Kate had a HUGE meltdown so the camera had to go away. When I got back to Matney the lady was saying "you're all done" and Matney was crying that she wasn't all done. Did she want more cutting? More squirting? Nope, she was crying that she "needs a bow!". HA! That's my girl. Lucky for her Mama brought a matching big bow just for the event. Mantey recovered and asked for her "green sucker with a flower" just like she'd seen her friend get last week. WHAT, YOU'RE OUT OF SUCKERS?????

I tried to quickly scoop up my screaming children and we went straight to the candy store. You know the ones where you pay some ridiculous amount for 1/4lb of candy? At that point I didn't mind paying for a very overpriced sucker at all. Here's a happy Matney again.

Because of the dueling meltdowns this is the best picture I have of the back of her hair. You really wouldn't know it was cut except that the back is straight across now.
It was a wild morning and I was exhausted before 11am! We ended up at Barnes and Noble for ballerina story time. The same story time that the girls didn't sit down for so we left before it really even started. Maybe next summer!

Splash Park

I took the kids and met friends at a local Splash Park this week...and I will not be doing it again any time soon! AGH! It was so crowded and miserably hot. Maybe it was the huge mass of people, maybe the noise but HK HATED it. From the moment we got out of the car I didn't put her back down until we got back in the car an hour and a half later. Most of that time she was screaming and crying. It was pitiful. Matney had a good time in the beginning but she was more than ready to go by the time we left. Too many people and way too little space and water!

Wild Women

Seriously, if I didn't know better (which I do) I would think I was pregnant and nesting. I don't know what has gotten into me the past few weeks but I've gone through this house like a wild woman! I've taken loads of stuff to the trash can, have about 10 bags piled to take to Goodwill and I'm not done. In the past 2 weeks I've painted the girls bathroom (it is super cute and I'll get pictures up soon), cleaned out the pantry and kitchen cabinets, under the bathroom cabinets, gone through every toy we own and spent last night cleaning out our closet until midnight. The girls have been great sports about strange things being thrown all over the house during the day. Jared would probably just like some calmness and order when he walks in the door at night. He'll never get that with these three wild women in the house. This is what he normally sees when he walks in the door...

Princess Matney

Elmo? No. Dora? No. Diego? No. Strawberry Shortcake? No. So who in the world is Matney's latest obsession? She is in LOVE with all things princess, especially the Disney princesses. Oh my, I am not a princess kind of mom and I didn't plan on my girls being into Barbies or princesses but Matney has fallen in love all on her own. I am not sure how she even knew about the princesses because we don't have the movies. Anyway, Miss M has a princess nightgown and tiara that she prefers as her daily attire. If we're home and the dress is clean I don't even fight it anymore. This particular day she did not have her subjects under control and almost lost her crown!

I have SO many pictures to upload and post. It has been whirlwind of a summer, and I stay completly exhausted, but we're having tons of fun. I usually blog after the girls are in bed when J and I are watching TV. However, since we only sit to watch the Biggest Loser and its season ended a few months ago we have hardly turned the tv on...which means I never sit down to blog. Anyway, we are having a great time and I'll have to find a show to watch so that I'll sit still and do it soon.
