6 Months

It is so hard to believe that Halle Kate just hit 6 months. To think that we've survived 5 full months of two little ones makes me so impressed with us! Here she is trying to steal the paci out of Matney's doll. She rolled herself across the room to get to it.

At 6 months Halle goes to bed about 7pm and sleeps until about 3am. She'd like to eat then but I give her the paci and she normally goes back to sleep until about 5am, eats and sleeps until 7am. Not bad but I'd love to get beyond the 5am bottle. She still naps 3 times a day for about 45 minutes each time.

We don't go to the dr for her check up until Dec because our dr. just had a baby and is out of the office. I keep forgetting to weigh her on our scale but I think she's about 13lbs (Matney was 17lb 10oz at 6 months!). She still fits in all her 0-3 month clothes although I've been putting the 6month stuff on her and just letting her have saggy drawers!

She LOVES banana oatmeal and sweet potatoes. It is a struggle now to get her to drink her bottle because she'd rather just eat solid food. Because she's started to eat and chunk up a little we recently realized that she has the same dimple that Matney shares with her Daddy. I guess I am the odd on out with no dimples in the family! Her hair is slowly coming in and she has 2 bottom teeth poking through.

She really is the sweetest baby and is starting to be much better with strangers and noise. Her favorite things are a specific plastic spoon and her Sophie giraffe. No matter where we go I make sure she has one of her spoons nearby for her to chew.

Halle Kate LOVES LOVES LOVES Matney. As long as Matney is moving around the room HK is normally happy to be watching her. At night Matney makes sure to always tell her "night, night baby" and gives her a big kiss. HK just squeals! She also squeals if Elmo is on tv. That's right, we start 'em early around here. I figure that we own way too much Elmo stuff for Halle Kate to decide to like someone else. Plus, Matney calls my mom MoMo - every time Mom shows up, especially when Miss M was younger Elmo (or most of the time Elmos) were popping out of bags and packages everywhere. Matney said "Mo" for Elmo and somehow the association between grandma and Elmo just stuck and became MoMo. It is so cute! Anyway, HK already has a healthy love for Mr Mo!

It is hard to think we're almost half way to another first year birthday party. Oh my! We got pregnant the first time just before Thanksgiving 2006...so this is the longest time in 3 years that I haven't been pregnant...and it is so so nice. Except that means it is also the first holiday season not pregnant after 3 years of having a great excuse to eat anything I wanted so that isn't as fun! We are so so so thrilled to have our two girls, even if it was tough in the beginning. They are such a blessing!!!

New Additions

Halle Kate just wanted me to take a minute to tell you about her new additions. I don't have a picture but yesterday her mouth produced one shiny white tooth. The other tooth is just below the surface today, I couldn't see it yesterday, so we expect to see it soon.

I cannot believe my baby girls are growing up so fast. It is wonderful and sad all at the same time!

However, since the only sleep I got last night was from 3:45-6:15 this morning I'd like them to grow up just enough to both sleep through the night. M SCREAMED for hours last night, finally went to bed about 1am (after motrin, food and an Elmo at midnight trying to calm her down. She's been fine all day today so no idea what that was about.). At 1:45am HK was up and didn't get back to sleep until 3:45..and then was up bright and early at 6:15. Needless to say, I am exhausted! Grow up girls and SLEEP!

Family Pictures

Jen Hanley, our awesome photographer, has done it again! She dropped the CD with all our pictures from last weekend by today and they are all great. I don't know how I'll ever pick one for our Christmas card!

Back to Halloween

I just checked my email and this is too funny not to share. These are the playgroup Halloween pictures that another mom just sent. Oh my goodness, that is about the funniest thing I've ever seen. Except I was there it and it wasn't as funny when they were screaming and crying that day! Now you know why we didn't get any great pictures. It was a miracle they all ended up in the same picture!

I'll leave you with this...

Hope you've enjoyed the Heald family update for the day. I thought I'd leave you with a little baby nakedness. Oh my, we have such cute girls!

Girly Girl

Matney loves her hats...and shoes and bows and tutus. I think she is going to be such a girly girl!

I HEART FOOD

Halle Kate just wanted everyone to know that she LOVES solid food. I just wish she would eat with out putting her hands in her mouth because it makes such a huge mess.

Do you think they are related?

Jared probably won't apprecaite this picture but I thought it was too funny not to share. Here are two of my favorite people in the world watching Strawberry Shortcake...and both of them have their bellies hanging out. How funny is that?

Most prized posession

Last weekend all of the Christmas toy catalogs were in the Sunday paper. Matney quickly took to carrying the WalMart and ToysRUs ones around. In the middle of the first round of dining room paint I heard her tearing paper and figured if it kept her busy she could tear the catalog to shreds. What I didn't realize was that Matney was on a mission. Once the tearing was over I heard, "Sup Wy where are you?" over and over. When I went to see what she was doing I found all these shreds of paper. Matney had torn and torn until she got a 2" tall Super Wy from her favorite PBS Kids show. She's carried that piece of paper around all week. If the paper shred is out of her sight for too long she runs all over the house calling for him. She is a mess!

*%^*#@ Dining Room

This is the best "before" picture I have of the dining room. White walls and ceiling and old curtains hanging just to keep the light out. I knew I wanted it a red/orange color and I wanted it painted before Thanksgiving so it seemed like an easy project to tackle while Jared was out of town last week.

I wish I'd taken more pictures along the way. Like the walls painted the first red color that I didn't like. Back to Home Depot we went to get another red.

My poor friend came in town and entered the Heald Family Sweatshop. Sound familiar, Mama? We painted red, bought curtains but didn't like the buttons so they had to be painted black. The curtains were too thin so they had to be lined. We had boards cut to make these squares for the wall. Then we painted white so that the line would look straight where the red touched the chair rail and crown moulding. Then we had to go back and paint red so that the line would look straight where the red touched the chair rail and crown moulding. Then we had to go back and paint white so that the line would look straight where the red touched the chair rail and crown moulding. And then...well, you get the idea. The staight line thing took a LOT of work! And painting the ceiling red...don't even ask about how much fun that was.

By the end it took me and three fabulous friends more than 50 hours of work in that room. I need a few more things for the walls and then we're done. I do think it looks good but I don't know that I will ever want to go in there again.
I could not have done it without your help ladies. Thank you for keeping me sane and being WONDERFUL friends!!!

Its getting crowded in here

It is getting crowded in Matney's bed. This is the family of animals she had to have to go to bed this week. Jared snuck back in after she feel asleep and removed several of her critters. Silly girl!

Halle Cake's turn

Anyone remember this post? It is Halle's turn now. I knew she was getting close and last week I put her down, walked into the kitchen and turned around to check on her...and she was gone. No more play mat for her. Halle Kate is on the move. Life sure is about to get even more wild at this house!
And on a funny side note, my Mom got Miss M a Strawberry Shortcake DVD a while ago that Matney has decided she really likes. She also has decided that Halle Kate is no longer Halle Kate but Halle Cake. How funny!
